Green signs with Omaha of UFL

Running back Ahman Green wasn’t getting any interest from NFL teams,

including the Green Bay Packers, so he signed to play with the Omaha Nighthawks of the United Football League (UFL).

Green played 12 seasons in the NFL and returned to the Packers last season to become their career rushing leader with 8,322 yards over 8-seasons.

Green is returning to his home state where he starred at Nebraska with 3,880 yards and 42 touchdowns in three seasons. 

The Nighthawks are coached by former Packers assistant Jeff Jagodzinski.

Former Brewers top pick returns to action

Milwaukee Brewers 2006 first round draft pick Jeremy Jeffress returns to baseball with the Brewers Class (A) affiliate, the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.  Jeffress begins his comeback from a 100-game suspension for testing positive for marijuana use a third time.

The 22 year old Jeffress was eligible to return a couple of weeks ago, but was slowed by forearm stiffness in extended spring training.  He’ll shift to a relief role to keep him more focused and engaged on a daily basis.

Wolf’s season long pitching slump continues

It sounds like a broken record, but the Milwaukee Brewers are once again not getting what they bargained for when they signed free agent left-hander Randy Wolf to a 3-year deal worth $29.75 million.

Wolf gave up 5-home runs to the Chicago Cubs last night and the Brewers lost 9-4 at Miller Park.  Marlon Byrd and Geovany Soto each homered twice and Derrek Lee clubbed his 300th career home run in the win. [Read more...]

A Wisconsin Congressman is raising concerns about the direction of government spending.

Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) says the US should pay close attention to the lessons being learned from other countries economic problems. He says it’s a real time lesson of marketplace justice, and the economic turmoil that can be inflicted on countries mired in debt. [Read more...]

Doyle wants Medicaid funding restored

The Governor is calling on Congress to approve a $24 billion Medicaid bailout program.

The U.S. House recently voted against the program, which provides matching dollars for Medicaid programs. Governor Jim Doyle warns jobs cuts will be coming if it’s not brought back, since most of the money is passed directly on to reimburse providers. [Read more...]
