Doing away with the state’s drinking culture

A study group wants to change Wisconsin’s alcohol environment, and its members came up with a total of 49 recommendations for state and local governments, communities, employers and educators. Julia Sherman is the Chair of the Alcohol Culture and Environment Workgroup, whose panel of experts note that Wisconsin is one of only two states that allows parents to purchase alcohol for their children in public.

“One of our recommendations is that we go with what is the mainstream in this country, where parents can serve alcohol to their own children in their own homes, but not elsewhere.”

Also, Sherman says many states have found sobriety checkpoints to be effective in reducing impaired driving. [Read more...]

Brewers can’t claim the sweep

Joel Pineiro was to much for Brewer bats Wednesday as the L.A Angels picked up the 5-1 victory.  Milwaukee only had three hits on the evening; one being the 4th homer of the season off the bat of Carlos Gomez.  Pineiro improved to 4-0 lifetime against The Crew.

Chris Narveson had a tough time in the start for Milwaukee.  He lasted only 4 1/3 innings surrendering all 5-runs on 7-hits.  Narveson blames the long ball for doing him in:

McCarthy backs Crosby

Mason Crosby’s inconsistency in 2009 raised questions to whether the Packers would bring in another kicker to challenge Crosby in 2010.  The answer to the question is no as Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy stated Wednesday:

Crosby connected on 75% of kicks in 2009; his lowest accuracy rate in his 3-NFL seasons.  Of his 9-misses, two came in the 30-yard range and three in the 40 yard range.

Bucks take a look at Marquette’s Hayward

As the June 24th NBA draft approaches, the Milwaukee Bucks continued their pre-draft workouts Wednesday.  Among the players showing the Bucks their skills was Marquette forward Lazar Hayward.

Hayward led Marquette in scoring and rebounding the 2009-2010 season as the Golden Eagles advanced the NCAA tournament.  He would love the opportunity to continue playing at the Bradley Center with Milwaukee…
