Statewide Legacy of Life Tour arrives in Wisconsin’s capitol city.

The Tour highlights Wisconsin as the host state for the 2010 games and recognizes transplant recipients who will be competing in the 2010 U.S. Transplant Games for Team Wisconsin.

Rachel Maske’s sister became an organ donor at the age of 32. Maske says the transplant games will be an opportunity to celebrate her sister Becky and her gifts. “Any time I have the chance to meet a recipient I think it makes my heart feel good. I get to see the positive outcome of what was such a horrible thing for our family.” [Read more...]

Brewers Win Again (AUDIO)

The Brewers picked up a 5-3 win over the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night at Miller Park.

Rickie Weeks drove in 3 runs and scored 2 more as Milwaukee won their third straight game.  Manny Parra tied a club record with four wild pitches but still managed to scratch out the win.  John Axford pitched the 9th to register his 6th save of the season.

The Brewers look for the series sweep this afternoon as Yovani Gallardo takes the hill for the Crew.  They will throw the first pitch at 1:10pm at Miller Park.

Packers Take Time Off (AUDIO)

The Green Bay Packers wrapped up offseason workouts on Tuesday and are now off until training camp opens at the end of July.  Most players are getting out of Green Bay for the next month, but most are still working out.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers says that he’s leaving for San Diego where he’ll workout wit a handful of other NFL players.  Defensive back Charles Woodson says that he had all the time off he needed right after the season and wishes they could get things going with training camp right now.  He’ll used the next month to continue to prepare for the 2010 season.  Nick Barnett is also going to California for a month  He says he’ll workout everyday but also take some time to enjoy the ocean.

 Packer players are scheduled to check into their dorms at St. Norbert College on July 30th to start training camp.

Bucks Gear Up For NBA Draft (AUDIO)

The NBA Draft is tonight and the Milwaukee Bucks could be very busy.  The Bucks have the 15th overall pick in the first round and 3 second round picks after acquiring the 44th pick in their trade with Golden State on Tuesday.  The Bucks pick 37th, 44th, and 47th in the 2nd round.

GM John Hammond says that Milwaukee has lots of options for their 1st round pick.  Hammond thinks the team will end up taking the best available player on the board when their turn to pick comes up.  Director of Scouting Billy McKinney says that this draft is heavy with forwards, which is a need for the Bucks.  McKinney doesn’t see the team moving up in the draft.

 The Bucks added Corey Maggette in a trade with Golden State to solidify their small forward spot, but they have had numerous players at that position for pre-draft workouts.

PACKERS INK THREE DRAFT PICKS

The Green Bay Packers have signed G/T Marshall Newhouse, RB James Starks and DE C.J. Wilson.

Newhouse, the second of the team’s two fifth-round draft picks, was a three-year starter at left tackle for TCU. He appeared in 52 career games, including 38 starts, and earned first-team All-Mountain West Conference honors as a senior. 

Starks, a sixth-round selection, became Buffalo’s all-time leading rusher in just three collegiate seasons (2006-2008). Though he missed the 2009 season due to injury, he also holds school records for rushing touchdowns (34) and points scored (222).

Wilson, a seventh-round pick, was a four-year letterman at East Carolina. In 54 career games, including 37 starts to close out his collegiate career, he tallied 192 tackles, including 45½ for loss, and 27 sacks. He earned first-team All-Conference USA honors each of his final two seasons. 

The rookies are the first three of the Packers’ seven draft picks to sign with the team.
