Doyle dismisses threats to high speed rail (AUDIO, VIDEO)

Governor Jim Doyle and local officials announced a final location for a high speed rail station in downtown Madison on Thursday, and the governor again dismissed the threats of Republican candidates for governor who’ve threatened to pull the plug on the Madison to Milwaukee service if elected. “We are entering into the appropriate agreements with the federal government,” said Doyle. “I guess short of sitting down in the front of the federal government and defying the federal government, I don’t think it’s realistic to say that this project would stop.”

Supreme Court splits on ethics case

Members of the State Supreme Court were unable to reach a consensus on whether or not one of their own violated the judicial code of conduct. In a 3-3 vote, the high court split on the question of if a campaign ad run by Justice Michael Gableman in 2008 was deserving of further action. [Read more...]

Racine native to join Marquette

Forward Jamil Wilson is transferring to Marquette from the University of Oregon and will have three years of eligibility left after sitting out this coming season.

The former prep standout from Racine started 14 of 26 games with the Ducks last season and averaged 4.7 points and 3.2 rebounds a game last season.

 rehab start on Wednesday, pitching 7-solid innings in the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers 4-1 victory over Quad Cities.

Davis allowed 1-run on 6-hits with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts.  He made two earlier rehab starts at Triple (A) Nashville.

Davis is expected to rejoin the Brewers starting rotation and make a start against the Giants at Miller Park next week.

Brewers drop series with Astros (AUDIO)

The Milwaukee Brewers had a good home stand, but it could have been better.  Manager Ken Macha’s club dropped 2 of their 3 against Houston after falling 5-1 to the Astros yesterday.  Macha knows they have to perform better in St. Louis in a four game series which starts tonight.

Wandy Rodriguez worked 7-innings for his second straight win.  Dave Bush took the loss for the Brewers, falling to 3-6.  Bush worked 6-innings and gave up just 2 runs, but he surrendered 6 hits and 5 walks.

Brewers outfielder Cory Hart extended his hitting streak to 15-games.  They’re in St. Louis to face the Cardinals tonight.
