CUB sues over WP&L industrial discounts

A lawsuit has been filed against the Public Service Commission. Charlie Higley, Executive Director for the Citizens Utility Board of Wisconsin, says CUB has filed suit to block implementation of a special industrial rate discount which Wisconsin Power and Light requested, and which the state Public Service Commission granted last month.

“Essentially, industrial customers will receive a discount on their utility service for the next few years, and that discount will be paid for most likely by other customers, including residential customers,” Higley says. Higley maintains such an arrangement is prohibited by state law, and he says the PSC approval sets a bad precedent. “We’re worried that other utilities may seek similar rates in the future,” he says. Walker delivers signatures to GAB (VIDEO)

Scott Walker stopped by the Government Accountability Board in Madison on Tuesday. The Milwaukee County executive dropped off some 15,000 signatures to get his name on the ballot for governor this fall. GAB staff will only be accepting four thousand signatures, which is twice the minimum number needed.

Lawmaker wants Medicaid audit

A state lawmaker is asking again for an audit of Medicaid. Senator Rob Cowles of Green Bay says spending on the state’s health care program continues to climb. Cowles says he’s making the request in the wake of a similar audit in Pennsylvania. He says in that state, nearly 15 percent of Medicaid applicants weren’t actually eligible, but they got benefits anyway.

Milwaukee siblings found safe

Three Milwaukee children who police feared were in danger after they were taken by their mother Sunday night were found safe Monday afternoon in Kenosha County. The Wisconsin State Patrol pulled over a car driven by 34 year-old Lavatta Smith at about 4:25 PM on northbound I-94. Her three children, 9 year-old Javious Thicklen and his sisters, 7-year-old Jaleiah Thicklen and 4-year-old Katera Thicklen, were inside the car. [Read more...]

Error Costs Crew (AUDIO)

The Giants take game one of their four game set with the Brewers on Monday with a 6-1 win. 

A four run 7th inning to busted open a 1-1 game and for the 2nd straight game an Alcides Escobar’s error led to the big inning.  The young shortstop booted a possible double-play ball that would have ended the inning with no runs across the plate.  Instead the Giants put up four runs in the frame.  Kameron Loe was hung with the loss.  Starter Dave Bush went six strong innings, giving up just 1 run on five hits.  Corey Hart extended his hit streak to 20 games with a hit in the 5th

Milwaukee tries to bounce back tonight as Randy Wolf takes on Madison Bumgarner.  They will throw the first pitch at 7:10pm inside of Miller Park.
