Gallardo Out of All-Star Game (AUDIO)

Brewers team doctors confirmed on Monday that starter Yovani Gallardo has a strained left oblique muscle.  Gallardo was hurt in the 3rd inning of Sunday’s loss to St. Louis.

The Brewers ace won’t go on the disabled list but manager Ken Macha says he won’t be pitching in the All-Star Game.  Gallardo was named to his first National League All-Star team on Sunday before he took the mound in St. Louis.  Ironically he should have been out of the inning before he was injured as shortstop Alcides Escobar committed two errors that would have ended the inning.

Gallardo is 8-4 with a 2.58 ERA this season.  The team officially says Gallardo is day-to-day.

Jones Wants Deep Playoff Run (AUDIO)

The Green Bay Packers felt like they were peaking at the end of last season and then saw their season come crashing down in a playoff loss at Arizona.  This year wide receiver James James says the team is as focused as ever for a deep playoff run.  Jones says one of the motivations this season is to get a Super Bow ring for aging veterans like Charles Woodson and Donald Driver.

Head Coach Mike McCarthy has said that Jones has been one of the more impressive players during the offseason.  The 4th year pro says that he’s been all business this offseason in hopes to take his game to another level.

Players report to training camp on July 30th.
