Bringing the games to Madison was four years in the making. Trey Schwab is co-chair of the local transplant games committee. He says the bidding process took over two years, and the preparation took two more years. He says the purpose of the games is three-fold: donor awareness, fun gathering, and to promote the online donor registry. “It’s a little bit of everything but the real mission behind it is to inspire people to register to be organ, eye and tissue donors.” [Read more...]
Brewers Lose Again (AUDIO)
Another sloppy loss for the Brewers. The Giants won game two of their four game set in Milwaukee 6-1 last night. San Francisco scored 5 runs in the 6th inning off of Brewers starter Randy Wolf, just one of those runs were earned because of a Craig Counsell error at shortstop. Madison Bumgarner gave up just three hits in 8 innings of action to tally his first Major League victory. Corey Hart went 0×4 so his 20 game hit streak is history.
The Crew and Giants play again tonight in game three of their four game set. Tim Lincecum will throw against Chris Narveson. They will throw the first pitch at 7:10pm inside Miller Park.
Packers Want More (Audio)
The Green Bay Packers hope their offensive line will be better in 2010. Last season Aaron Rodgers got beat up with a shaky offensive line, especially early in the season.
Mark Tauscher is back, fully recovered from a knee injury that kept him off the roster until mid-season. The team hopes Chad Clifton can stay healthy and rookie 1st round pick Brian Bulaga should add some depth to the line.
Some experts have picked the Packers to be the favorite to reach the Super Bowl out of the NFL. Mark Tauscher says that the team also has high expectations for the upcoming years.
Players report to training camp on July 30th.
Gallardo to DL
On Monday the Brewers team doctor said they would keep Yovani Gallardo on the active roster despite straining his left oblique muscle in Sunday’s loss to St. Louis. On Tuesday, they changed their mind and placed the Brewers All-Star pitcher on the 15 day disabled list.
The move allows the Crew to activate Doug Davis who will start on Friday against Pittsburgh. Gallardo will be eligible to come off the DL on July 20th.
The 24-year-old is 8-4 on the season with a 2.58 ERA. By placing Gallardo on the DL he is officially out of next Tuesday’s All-Star Game in Anaheim.
Tauscher Likes Team (AUDIO)
The Packers are considered one of the favorites in the NFC heading into the 2010 season. Quite a few experts have picked Green Bay to reach the Super Bowl. With one of the best offenses in football and the defense entering year #2 under Dom Capers good things could happen.
One of the keys to the Packers 2010 success will be the offensive line. Last year the line let QB Aaron Rodgers get beat up, especially early in the season. With veterans Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher healthy the line will most likely be OK, but if injuries hit the outside of the line it could be a long year.
Tauscher says that adding youth to the roster is a good thing and adds depth to the line. The team selected tackle Brian Bulaga with their first round pick this season.
The Players report to training camp on July 30th.
