Bucks open summer league action tonight (AUDIO)

The Milwaukee Bucks officially open Summer League play in Las Vegas tonight when they play the first of their five exhibitions against the Dallas Mavericks.  Twenty-two teams are competing with 58 games scheduled.

The Bucks prepared by putting their players through 5-days of workouts last week.  Among that group is first round draft pick Larry Sanders, who said he’s hoping to bring some energy to the Bucks defense this season. [Read more...]

Scuba accident takes two lives

Two men are dead following a scuba diving accident in Western Wisconsin. It’s not known yet what caused their deaths but a Jackson County Medical Examiner released a statement Sunday saying the two likely died of “complications of rapid ascent after a deep freshwater dive” also known as “the bends.” The three were diving Saturday at the Lake Wazee Recreation Area, a popular destination because of its deep, clear waters. Stricker defends John Deere title (AUDIO)

After a record 25-under par total after 54 holes, Madison’s Steve Stricker held on to win the John Deere Classic for the second straight year.  Stricker’s 1-under par 70 on Sunday saw him finish with a 26-under par 258, and still a record for the tournament.

Stricker beat Paul Goydos by two strokes.  Goydos shot an opening round 59 on Thursday and finished with a 5-under par 66 on Sunday.  He became just the second golfer in PGA Tour history to shoot a 59 and not win. [Read more...]

Hart’s HR sends Brewers into break victorious

from behind in a 6-5 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.  After dropping four straight to the Giants, the Brewers fortunes did a complete 180 with a 3-game sweep of the Pirates.

Hart, who will compete in Monday night’s all-star home run derby and then start for the National League in Tuesday’s all-star game, has had quite a first half.

Hart, who clubbed his 21st home run, will start the all-star game in place of Atlanta’s Jason Heyward, who is out with an injury.  He’ll be joined in the starting outfield by teammate Ryan Braun, who said he’s happy for Hart.

Wisconsin joins Illinois in CWD fight

Wisconsin is not alone in its battle against Chronic Wasting Disease in the deer herd, and Davin (dave-in) Lopez with the state Department of Natural Resources says a new memorandum of understanding with Illinois could help with efforts to eradicate the disease.

Lopez says the states have been working together for some time already, but a formal agreement recently signed will make it easier for wildlife officials in both states to work together on CWD-related issues. [Read more...]
