Late blight back in Wisconsin

Growers of potatoes and tomatoes beware…late blight appears to be back in Wisconsin this year.

Ten-digit dialing begins at midnight in 715 area

Residents in the 715 area code region, which covers half the state, are now required to dial all 10-digits.

Gary Evenson with the state Public Service Commission explains area code relief is being implemented in the region by means of an ‘overlay.’ That means two area codes will coexist: 715 and 534. Play suspended at the British Open

High winds have caused play to be suspended during the second round of the British Open at St. Andrews.

Louis Oosthuizen fired a 5-under par 67 to go to 12-under at the midway point of the tournament.  Oosthuizen has a 3-shot lead over Rory McIlroy, who just started his second round.

Madison’s Steve Stricker finished is opening round at 2-over par for the day and 1-over for the tournament.  The projected cut right now is at even par, but with the wind blowing, scores are expected to be high, which could move the cut line to +1 or even higher.  That would allow Stricker to play on the weekend.

Madison native Jerry Kelly won’t be as fortunate.  His 2-round total is 10-over par and will be going home early.

Kenosha storm moves quick and hard

The storm tore at cable, phone and electrical wires and put trees onto a few garages and cars. Part of the roof of the building was torn off at the Business Park of Kenosha, while a small plane was moved from its parking spot at the Kenosha Regional Airport.
