Design Scott’s mask

For his upcoming Senior season, Wisconsin goaltender Scott Gudmandson is looking for some help in designing his mask.

Fans can head to the Wisconsin Mens Hockey site to create a mask that Gudmanson will wear in this season’s College Hockey Showcase.  Entries will be all designed on the web.  August 1st is the deadline.

Gallardo’s return a success

In his first start since July 4th, Yovani Gallado recorded 6-shutout innings of 5-hit baseball to help the Milwaukee Brewers (44-53) to a 3-2 road win over the Pittsburgh Pirates (34-61) Thursday night.  Gallardo also recorded 5-strikeouts as he improved his record to 9-4 on the season.

Rookie John Axford earned his 13th save of the season by giving up nothing over the final 1 2/3 innings.  Chris Capuano returned to his bullpen role after starting Monday to get out of a 7th inning jam.  Axford happy the pen could help Yovani:

Walker wants teachers on state health plan

Many school districts across Wisconsin purchase employee health insurance through WEA Trust or other private plans. Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker wants to give them another option.

The Republican candidate for governor is proposing a change in state law that would allow school districts to enroll teachers and staff in the same health plan state employees receive. Walker says participation would be voluntary and could result in significant savings for schools. [Read more...]
