football program.

A member of Bret Bielema’s 2008 recruiting class, the defensive end has transferred to North Dakota State where he’ll have three years of eligibility and can play immediately with the Bison.

Westphal told the Appleton Post Crescent that it became apparent to him during a team meeting early this summer that things weren’t going to work out with the Badgers.

North Dakota State had originally offered Westphal a scholarship after his junior year at Menasha.

As a high school senior, Westphal was ranked as the No. 1 state player by both Rivals.com and Scout.com.

program, but he’ll report to training camp on time.  Bigby signed his restricted free agent tender of $1.759-million on Tuesday.

Bigby had been holding out for a long-term contract, but his bargaining power diminished when 3rd round draft pick Morgan Burnett showed promise while working as the teams top safety during OTA’s and mini-camp.

Bigby has been the team’s starter at safety the last three years.

The lone player without a contract at the moment is rookie, first round draft pick Brian Bulaga.  Training camp workouts start this Saturday afternoon at 2pm.
