High winds have caused play to be suspended during the second round of the British Open at St. Andrews.
Louis Oosthuizen fired a 5-under par 67 to go to 12-under at the midway point of the tournament. Oosthuizen has a 3-shot lead over Rory McIlroy, who just started his second round.
Madison’s Steve Stricker finished is opening round at 2-over par for the day and 1-over for the tournament. The projected cut right now is at even par, but with the wind blowing, scores are expected to be high, which could move the cut line to +1 or even higher. That would allow Stricker to play on the weekend.
Madison native Jerry Kelly won’t be as fortunate. His 2-round total is 10-over par and will be going home early.
