Grant Co. men face incest, bestiality charges

Two members of the Amish Community are facing charges in Grant County Court, of sexual assault of a child, attempted sexual assault of a child and charges of sexual gratification with an animal. According to Grant County Sheriff Keith Govier, a crimial complaint has been filed against 19-year-old Christian G. Stoltzfus and 18-year-old Dannie S. Stotlzfus, both from Fennimore. A court date for both has yet to be set. Christian Stoltzfus is charged with Repeated Sexual Assault of a child, Incest, Attempted First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child Under the age of 13 without Great Bodily Harm, First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child without Great Bodily Harm, Exposing his genitals, and Sexual Gratification with an animal…a horse and a cow. Stem cell uncertainty

A federal judge’s stem cell ruling leaves some uncertainty at UW Madison. Carl Gulbrandsen is Managing Director of the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation. “The lines that are being used here under federal funding are the lines that were being distributed by the National Stem Cell Bank,” said Gulbrandson. “And frankly that’s the five original lines that were derived at UW Madison. Those lines were fine under the Bush executive order, that’s what’s being used here on campus.” [Read more...]

School kids ride on solar powered buses

The Badger State is now home to the nation’s largest fleet of plug-in hybrid electric school buses. Eva Robelia with the state Office of Energy Independence says the buses in southeast Wisconsin run on sunshine. “These vehicles are fuel-efficient, they have lower emissions, they can go twice as far on a tank (of fuel) compared to a standard school bus.”

Wisconsin is acquiring a total of 24 plug-in hybrid school buses. [Read more...]

Panel looks at reducing wasted plastic

From water bottles to packaging on products, state Representative Spencer Black (D-Madison) says single-use plastic continues to show up all over the state in landfills or as litter.
