The state joins national efforts to ensure that federal funding is available for stem cell researchers in Wisconsin, so says Governor Jim Doyle at a press conference Tuesday afternoon.

Walker goes negative against Neumann

Republican candidate for governor Mark Neumann is defending himself against a Scott Walker ad which portrays him as an ally of Nancy Pelosi while he served in Congress. “I think we should start with the fact that I voted for a bill that Tom Barrett voted against,” says Neumann, who served in the 1990s. “If voting with Nancy Pelosi makes me Nancy Pelosi, that makes Scott Walker Tom Barrett, because Tom Barrett voted against the bill.” Milwaukee Mayor Barrett, the Democratic nominee for governor, was also a member of Wisconsin’s House delegation while Neumann was a member of Congress.

Walker, the presumed front runner in the Republican primary, says he’s known the race with Neumann would be close all along, and accuses the former congressman of being a bit disingenuous in charging Walker with an attack. “After all his attack ads, he’s now suddenly upset about us pointing out the truth of the votes he took in Congress on some of the biggest most important votes out there.” Voters need to know, says Walker, that Neumann tacked from challenging the status quo to becoming part of it. Republican primary voters will decide on Tuesday whether Walker or Neumann will face Barrett in the November general election.

Some of the rice that is being harvested suffers from brown spot disease, but is still safe to consume. [Read more...]
