According to a source inside the Milwaukee Brewers organization, the team has agreed in principle with former Mets manager Bobby Valentine to become the teams next manager.
The Brewers fired Ken Macha at the end of the season.
Now the two sides must finalize a contract agreement. The source says Valentine is looking for $10-million over 3-years which may or may not throw a wrench into the deal.

Boy, you are getting shot down all over the place!! For your sake, I hope this hire pans out, otherwise, pretty irresponsible reporting. I’d love to know the “brewer insider”…..

Just another case of someone putting their own spin on things.

I stand by my source. I have no reason to believe that individual didn’t know what he was talking about. And, you won’t find out who that person is. The Brewers can spin this any way they want, but they’ve talked numbers with Bobby Valentine. Doug Melvin was sensitive to information leaked at the end of the season when they decided not to bring Ken Macha back. So it doesn’t surprise me that he’d deny this, especially with the timing of the World Series starting tonight. I’ve been shot down before, my ego can take it. I’ve never been one to sensationalize or make things up just to draw attention. I do know that some of the people doing the shooting down are those that are used to getting the scoop and not getting scooped. So that doesn’t surprise me either.

No spin here. This is right from the mouth of a Brewers employee in the know. There’s plenty of reasons for the Brewers to deny this at the moment, especially with the World Series about to begin tonight. I’ve never been one to throw something at the wall to see what sticks. If this doesn’t happen, then the Brewers will have decided that Bobby Valentine is too expensive and back away. I didn’t pull that figure ($10-million over 3-years) out of my backside.
