It was a loss Tuesday for the longest serving member of the state Assembly. Governor-elect Scott Walker will have a Republican controlled legislature after some big names were voted out Tuesday, including the ‘dean’ of the state Assembly. Wisconsin Rapids Marlin Schneider got 41 percent of the vote in a losing effort to Republican Scott Krug. “The most important thing for us getting that vote was going door to door and actually spending time with people instead of just dropping pamphlets off. We sat down with people,” said Krug. Schneider leaves the Assembly after 40 years in office, he was first elected back in 1970. The 72nd Assembly District includes portions of Wood, Adams, Portage and Marquette counties and the city of Wisconsin Rapids.
