Marquette survives against cross-town Panthers

Marquette ran it’s record to 38-0 against UW-Milwaukee, but this one wasn’t easy. 

Darius Johnson-Odom made two free throws with 5.3 seconds left and scored a career high 29 points as the Golden Eagles pulled out a 75-72 win over the Panthers.

Marquette’s record against the Panthers is the second-longest streak in Division I.  Syracuse is 44-0 against Colgate this season.

Bucks snap 5-game win streak

With starters Andrew Bogut and Drew Gooden as well as reserve Corey Maggette missing from the lineup with injuries, the Milwaukee Bucks pulled out a tight win at home, beating the Charlotte Bobcats 104-101, ending a 5-game losing streak.

Point guard Brandon Jennings scored 32 points and sank a pair of free throws with 5.7 seconds left to lead the Bucks to the win.

The Bucks travel to Utah to face the Jazz on Monday night.

Warhawks advance to NCAA Division 3 Quarterfinals

UW-Whitewater knocked off Trine 45-31 on Saturday to advance to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals next week. 

Levell Coppage had a pair of 9-yard touchdown runs in the fourth quarter push the Warhawks over the top.  Coppage finished with 300 yards rushing on 38 carries.  Lee Brekke also tossed three touchdown passes in the win.

Defending champion Whitewater (12-0) will face top-seeded North Central (12-0) in Naperville, Illinois this Saturday (12:00).

Where would the Packers be without BJ Raji? (AUDIO)

Green Bay Packers nose tackle B.J. Raji has been a rock on the defensive line this season.  With four of the teams top five defensive linemen missing time with injuries this season, Raji has been the main stay.

Raji’s health has also meant that he is logging some real overtime with the Packers.  He has already played more snaps at nose tackle through 11 games than he did in his entire rookie season a year ago. [Read more...]

Badgers likely headed for the Rose Bowl

Another blowout win for the Wisconsin Badgers and it looks like they’re headed for the Rose Bowl.  The Badgers rolled to a 70-23 win over Northwestern to gain a share of the Big Ten title with Ohio State and Michigan State.

Wisconsin (11-1, 7-1 Big Ten) looks to have the inside track on the Rose Bowl, which will be determined by the Bowl Championship Series standings.  The Badgers have a lead on both the Buckeyes and Spartans in the BCS point standings and another convincing win will likely keep it that way.
