Economy held up health reform

Expanding health care coverage to all kids in Wisconsin and providing an affordable option for low-income individuals were just parts of Governor Jim Doyle’s plans to make sure everyone has access to medical care.

Interstate tragedy on Christmas Eve

Some families will not be celebrating this weekend, after a two-vehicle crash takes one life and seriously injures another about 20 miles north of Madison.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, at 9:00 this morning (December 24) a semi driver had stopped on the right shoulder of I-90 westbound near Arlington to assist with a previous crash. Within minutes the driver of a north bound pick up lost control and struck the rear of the semi. That driver was pronounced dead at the scene [Read more...]

Reach Out and Read goes statewide

A new partnership aims to expand a youth reading program across the state of Wisconsin.

The Children’s hospitals in Madison and Milwaukee are joining forces to expand the “Reach Out and Read” program across the state. UW Hospital and Clinics President Donna Katen-Bahensky says the effort will make free books available to thousands of pre-school aged children. [Read more...]

Bucks go 2-1 out west

The Milwaukee Bucks are returning home 2-1 after their trip to the west coast. 

The trip started out on a sour note after they were throttled by the Portland Trailblazers on Monday.  But things got better in a hurry when they knocked off the Lakers at Staples Center in Los Angeles the next night.   Last night, the Bucks made it a winning road trip by rallying for a 84-79 win over the Sacramento Kings. Badgers head to Big Ten play 10-2

The Wisconsin Badgers wrapped up the non-conference portion of their

schedule with a 10-2 record. 

Coppin State opened last night’s game in Madison in a zone defense and Jon Leuer was a zone buster for the Badgers.  Leuer hit four 3-point shots in the opening 3-minutes to lead the Badgers to a 80-56 win.  Leuer finished with 19 points.

The Badgers shot 50% from beyond the arc in the first half and 44% for the game.

Wisconsin opens Big Ten Conference play on Tuesday night against Minnesota at the Kohl Center.
