Both sides weigh in on Obama’s visit

President Obama is visiting Manitowoc today, a place that White House Senior Advisor David Axelrod called a “typical American town in the heartland of our country.” Obama will also be visiting Orion Energy Systems which Axelrod calls an ideal choice to highlight Obama’s focus on innovation.

Jennings return delayed

Milwaukee Bucks point guard Brandon Jennings met with doctors on Tuesday and didn’t receive clearance to return to practice or full contact.

Jennings had surgery on December 20th.  At that time, the Bucks figured his return to be 4 to 6 weeks.  But it’ll be six weeks on Monday and his return is likely to take even longer. 

The Bucks return to the court tonight.  They’ll face division rival Atlanta at the Bradley Center.

Marquette’s upset bid falls short (AUDIO)

The Marquette Golden Eagles failed again to protect a lead and lost to 5th ranked Connecticut 76-68 at the Bradley Center on Tuesday night. 

The Huskies leading scorer, Kemba Walker, missed his first five shots and finished with just 14-points, but Marquette forward Jimmy Butler found out that U-Conn is more than just Kemba Walker. [Read more...]

Reserve, 2 of the 16 players to wind up on that season ending injury list.  Now they’re being kept out of the Green Bay Packers’  Super Bowl photo and are not very happy about it

Both players tweeted yesterday.  Barnett called it “sad” and Finley said it’s “not cool”.  The Packers say it’s a team decision.  They say the photo is being taken after media day next Tuesday and the 16 players on I.R. won’t be arriving in Dallas until next Thursday.

Smith in D.C. for health care hearing with Ryan

Fresh off his confirmation by the state Senate, Governor Scott Walker’s Secretary for the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, Dennis Smith, will offer testimony Wednesday on the fiscal consequences of health care reform – “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act” before the House Budget Committee. The House panel is chaired by Representative Paul Ryan, the Janesville Republican who delivered the GOP response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address.

“The University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute estimates that nearly 95 percent of Wisconsin citizens already have access to health insurance,” said Smith. “Wisconsin has achieved this high level of coverage without an individual mandate and without guaranteed issue, while maintaining a robust and competitive insurance market. Wisconsin already has achieved the coverage rates aspired to under PPACA. We have a strong, competitive health insurance market which we want to preserve and protect. All of the gains Wisconsin has made should not be put at risk.” [Read more...]
