Badgers announce football staff hiring

Wisconsin football coach Bret Bielema announced the hiring of former Wisconsin graduate assistant Thomas Hammock as the teams new running backs coach. 

Hammock was at Wisconsin in 2003 and 2004 and has spent the last four seasons at the University of Minnesota.

Badger women beat Hoosiers in Big Ten

Lin Zastrow scored 21 points to lead the Wisconsin women’s basketball team to a 65-57 win over Indiana on Wednesday night at the Kohl Center.

The Badgers (15-12, 10-5 Big Ten) sank four free throws in the final minute to seal the victory over the Hoosiers (9-18, 3-12).

The Badgers shot 48% from the field, but allowed the Hoosiers to hang around due to their 20 turnovers.  Wisconsin held the Hoosiers to just 35% shooting from the field. 

The Badgers close out their Big Ten regular season schedule at Ohio State on Sunday.

Gasser extends Michigan banking hours in Badger win (AUDIO)

Josh Gasser didn’t call bank, but he extended Michigan’s banking hours when he threw up a last second three pointer and gave the 12th ranked Wisconsin Badgers a 53-52 win over the Wolverines in Ann Arbor.

Gasser’s last second 20-footer found the bottom of the net as the Badgers (21-6, 11-4 Big Ten) picked up their 4th road win of the season and dealt Michigan’s NCAA Tournament hopes a major blow.  The Wolverines fell to

Democrats push to protect prison workers

As the state Assembly continued its marathon session in to the early morning hours of Thursday, Democrats came to the defense of correctional officers; one institution at a time.

The Assembly debated about 20 amendments from Democrats that would restore the collective bargaining rights of prison workers to the budget repair bill. Each one named a specific institution in the state. All were tabled, effectively ending the chances of them being adopted. [Read more...]

Local leaders voice opposition to budget repair

Local officials from around Wisconsin held a press conference [AUDIO: 24 min] at the Capitol on Wednesday to voice their oppostion to provisions within Governor Scott Walker’s budget repair bill which would restrict the right of public employee unions to collectively bargain. Eau Claire City Manager Mike Huggins said there are local officials who support public employee unions and collective bargaining – and asked the national media to get the story straight. “Joe Scarborough was saying he didn’t know of any elected officials anywhere in the country that supported collective barganing rights,” said Huggins. “I’m sorry, we’re here.” [Read more...]
