Jennings leads Bucks to victory

Brandon Jennings scored 27 points and hit five clutch free throws in the final minutes to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 94-88 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves. 

Jennings hit 11 of 12 free throws and dished out 7 assists.  Corey Maggette added 20 points.

Michael Beasley scored 21 points and all-star Kevin Love added 20 points and 17 rebounds for the Timberwolves. 

Minnesota has now lost 6 of the last 7 against the Bucks in Milwaukee.

All night in the Assembly

As protesters settled in for another night sleeping in the Capitol rotunda, members of the Assembly continued work into the early morning hours. The Assembly started its floor session to debate the Governor’s budget repair bill just before noon on Tuesday. For the most part, members remained on the floor through the night as Democrats attacked the measure on several fronts. [Read more...]

Walker makes case to state (AUDIO)

Governor Scott Walker took the case for his budget repair bill to the state last night. Walker said his controversial budget repair bill is needed in order to avoid laying off thousands of state employees. “Despite a lot of the rhetoric we’ve heard over the past 11 days the bill I put forward isn’t aimed at state workers, and it certainly isn’t a battle with unions. If it was, we would have eliminated collective bargaining entirely or we would have gone after the private-sector unions,” Walker said. “We did not because they are our partners in economic development. We need them to help us put 250,000 people to work in the private sector over the next four years.” [Read more...]

Assembly debate underway

The state Assembly opened debate Tuesday around noon on Governor Scott Walker’s budget repair bill.

The floor session started with a bipartisan show of support for a resolution commending law enforcement for creating a peaceful and safe atmosphere around the Capitol over the past week. Thousands of people have filled the building and grounds each day to protest, while police from several agencies have stepped up to provide security. [Read more...]

Committee advances voter ID bill, without Dems

Things get a little heated at a Senate committee hearing Tuesday afternoon.

Committee Chair Mary Lazich (R-New Berlin) refuses to let missing senator Jon Erpenbach vote on the controversial photo ID bill. The Middleton Democrat had fled the state with other Senate Democrats to avoid a vote on Governor Walker’s budget repair bill.

The New Berlin Republican scolds Erpenbach for not being present. “I’ll wait an hour.” She says, “If you are in Illinois you can be here in two hours; I can wait.”

While phoning-in from an undisclosed location, Erpenbach chimes in, “Mary, I’m here now. I’m ready to vote.” [Read more...]
