DOA moving ahead with changes to collective bargaining (AUDIO)

State officials are moving ahead with changes to collective bargaining for public employees. Governor Scott Walker’s Administration Secretary, Mike Huebsch, said it doesn’t matter that Secretary of State Doug La Follette has been enjoined from setting a date for the law to go into effect. “Under the statute he has indicated the date that’s required,” said Huebsch. “As you take a look at the analysis in statute, the LRB is required to publish the bill after ten days. That has been met and we’ve fulfilled that requirement.” Huebsch said DOA believes the law went into effect following Friday’s on-line publication by the Legislative Reference Bureau. [Read more...]

No charges for ‘sexting’ D.A.

No criminal charges will be filed against the former Calumet County District Attorney over a sexting scandal. The Wisconsin Department of Justice says it has completed its criminal investigation into the allegations against Ken Kratz.

Officials were following up on numerous accusations that he used his position to try to initiate sexual relationships with crime victims and others in contact with his office. [Read more...]

Badgers set to open season on a Thursday night

According to reports, the University of Wisconsin is set to open the 2011 football season with a Thursday night game on ESPN.

The Badgers are set to play UNLV on Sept. 3 at Camp Randall Stadium but officials from the two schools had reportedly agreed to move the game to Sept. 1.

The Badgers beat UNLV 41-21 to open the 2010 season in Las Vegas.

St. Norbert College captures second NCAA hockey title

The St. Norbert College Green Knight hockey team won its second NCAA Division 3 ice hockey championship, beating Adrian College 4-3 in the Frozen Four finale on Saturday.

The Green Knights, who finished 25-4-1, ended the season as the best defensive team in the nation, allowing just 1.80 goals per game. 

St. Norbert College last won the title back in 2008.

Division 1 

 North Dakota won the NCAA Division 1 Midwest Hockey Regional, played at the Resch Center in Green Bay.  The Fighting Sioux routed Denver 6-1.

North Dakota will face Michigan on April 7th in the Frozen Four semifinals in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Packers gain 4th round compensatory selection

The Green Bay Packers will receive a 4th round compensatory selection in

the upcoming April NFL Draft.

The Packers will receive the 131st overall selection after losing defensive end Aaron Kampman to the Jacksonville Jaguars a year ago in free agency.

The 2011 NFL Draft will take place from April 28-30 in New York.
