Baldwin vows to fight GOP Medicare plan

Wisconsin Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin says a Republican plan to overhaul Medicare is an assault on senior citizens. The Madison Democrat says the proposal approved earlier this month in the U.S. House would privatize the system, cut benefits, and force seniors to pay even more on their own to buy coverage from insurance companies. Dems decry child support changes

Local child support agencies could see a reduction in state funding under language adopted by the legislature’s budget panel. And that drew criticism from Democrats on the Joint Finance Committee. State funding for child support agencies “a no brainer,” said Representative Tamara Grigsby of Milwaukee. Grigsby said the decision was heartless. “It is about a choice. It’s absolutely a choice,” she said. “Just to simply say that this is about not setting children and families as a priority I think is ridiculous,” argued Representative John Nygren, a Marinette Republican. Redd’s return is not out of the question

When asked at a Tuesday news conference at the Bradley Center, about the future of veteran guard Michael Redd, Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond didn’t rule anything out.

Redd made a comeback after missing more than 14 months after left knee surgery.  He played in a reserve role in the final weeks of the season.

Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond is hoping for better days

ahead for his team.  Hammond met with reporters Tuesday afternoon to discuss the team’s disappointing 2010-11 season at the Bradley Center.

The Bucks are currently in the 10 position for the June 23 draft and could move into one of the top three spots in the May 17 draft lottery. 

As far as the draft is concerned, Hammond said the Bucks wouldn’t be picking for need. [Read more...]

Hart to start in right field today

Corey Hart

Outfielder Corey Hart, who was activated from the disabled list yesterday, will make his first start of the season for the Milwaukee Brewers in right field today.  Hart will bat in the 6-spot in the lineup for the Brewers.  Carlos Gomez, who has performed well of late, will play center field and bat in the #2 spot.

Yovani Gallardo (2-1 / 4.88 ERA) pitches the series finale for the Brewers today.  Sam LeCure (0-1 / 4.15 ERA) goes for Cincinnati.

Almonte

Reserve outfielder Erick Almonte is the first major leaguer to be placed on the new 7-day disabled list for concussions after being hit in the forehead by a thrown ball during batting practice.
