Brewers end Cincinnati slide (AUDIO)

After four straight losses to the Cincinnati Reds, the Milwaukee Brewers ended that drought with a 3-2 victory at Miller Park on Tuesday night.

Solo home runs by Prince Fielder, Ryan Braun and Rickie Weeks gave the Brewers all the offense they needed. 

Spot starter Marco Estrada worked 7-solid innings to keep the Brewers in it.  Estrada didn’t get the decision, that went to Kameron Loe who pitched the 8th inning.  Estrada’s only blemish came in the 4th when he surrendered Brandon Phillips  2-run homer. [Read more...]

Brewers eclipse 2-million tickets sold

The Milwaukee Brewers announced today that the Club has reached 2-million tickets sold for the 2011 season, beating last year’s pace of reaching the milestone on April 29th.

The earliest that the Brewers reached 2-million tickets sold was 2001 when it occurred on April 19th.  The 2001 season was the first year of play for the Brewers in Miller Park.

Ryan takes on critics of Medicare plan

Cheers and boos greeted House Republican Paul Ryan at his Kenosha listening session Tuesday. Ryan asked the packed auditorium at Gateway Technical College for “civility” during the gathering.

The architect of the GOP budget said to help get entitlement programs solvent again; their plan calls for less spending on the wealthy and will “focus your money on the poor, on the safety net.”

Collective bargaining changes could be in budget

Will controversial changes to collective bargaining end up in the state budget? Joint Finance Committee co-chair, Representative Robin Vos, said that remains an option, with the matter still tied up in Dane County Court. “There’s been no decision that it’s going to be put in the budget,” says the Republican co-chair, “That is one option that’s on the table.” Vos said he and JFC co-chair, Senator Alberta Darling, remain optimistic that the court action underway now will be resolved, and that Dane County Judge Maryann Sumi will have to be overturned if she rules against the legislature and Governor Scott Walker. “I don’t know how much clearer it can be when you read those previous supreme court decisions that the legislature is the branch of government that gets to make the laws, not the judiciary,” he said. FDL county deals with yet another standoff

For the third time in a little over five weeks the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department finds itself at the scene of a standoff. This time a 52-year-old Campbellsport man apparently fired off a round from a handgun in a residence while arguing with his girlfriend.

It started late Monday night. The woman left the home and saw the man heading toward their garage. Sheriff Mick Fink says they were going to take whatever time was needed for the incident to cool down. It turns out the [Read more...]
