A human error led to thousand of votes for Justice David Prosser going uncounted – and he now has the lead in the state Supreme Court election. Waukesha County Clerk Kathy Nickolaus dropped the bombshell during a press conference Thursday – votes from the city of Brookfield went uncounted until the canvass of all the county’s votes.
Nickolaus took responsibility for the error – and Ramona Kitzinger with the Waukesha County Democratic Party confirmed that the canvass reflected the actual votes cast Tuesday night. The corrected total gives incumbent Prosser a 7500 vote lead over JoAnne Klopenburg, which is likely to stand up as all 72 counties complete their canvassing.
