Bud Norris has a 4.56 career ERA. But against the Milwaukee Brewers, that number drops to 2.32. The Houston Astros starting pitcher combined with three relievers on a 5-0 shutout over the Brewers in Houston on Sunday, giving the Astros 2 of 3 in the series.
Norris worked 7 1/3 innings on Sunday and struck out 11 as the Brewers managed just three hits.
Chris Narveson took the loss, allowing 4-runs on 7-hits in 6-innings of work. But his effort was far better than the final numbers show. Besides Bill Hall’s run scoring single in the 2nd, Narveson was cruising right along, until Carlos Lee deposited a curve ball into the seats in the 6th inning for a 3-run homer.
The Brewers scored just 1-run the night before, scoring on Prince Fielder’s solo home run in a 2-1 Brewer loss. They’ll try to get the offense back on track tonight in the first of a four game series against the Atlanta Braves.
