The Brewers road woes continue with a 7-3 loss in Cincinnati. Carlos Gomez and Josh Wilson each went deep for Milwaukee in a three run fifth, but that’s all the offense the Brewers could muster on the night. Jay Bruce collected 3 hits including a homer and a triple to go along with his three RBI night. Chris Narveson went four innings, giving up five earned runs to take the loss. Travis Woods goes six giving up just three runs on seven hits to notch the win. Milwaukee is a league worst 8-18 on the road this season. Game two of the series is tonight at Great American Ballpark. Zach Greinke gets the start for the Brewers while the Reds counter with Chad Reineke.
Another “No Call” deadline
Time is running out to register for latest version of the state’s “No Call” list for telemarketers. Consumers have until the end of today to sign up for the spring update of the wildly popular service, which Division of Consumer Protection Administrator Sandy Chalmers says should reduce the number of unwanted sales calls you receive.
Registrations for residential and cell phone lines are good for two years, although Chalmers says you can continue to sign up each time. She says the length of time you spend on the list is extended by two years every time you add your number. [Read more...]
Tougher penalties for accidents while license suspended
Wisconsin is one of only two states where injuring or killing someone while driving without a valid license is not a felony. Robert Dams is a former Greendale police chief whose son was killed in 2005 by an unlicensed driver who was issued traffic citations and remains on the road. “People just don’t want to take responsibility, I believe, for their actions, because there’s no penalty in the law,” said Dams. “Legislators have decriminalized all operating after revocation or suspension, unless it’s alcohol related.” Dams said the number of people whose licenses have been suspended or revoked has been steadily increasing the last several years. Wisconsin and Hawaii are the only states in which injuring or killing someone while driving without a valid license is not a felony. [Read more...]
Cops continue to crack down on seatbelt scofflaws

Both sides fire off on self-defense bill
The Assembly Judiciary Committee is considering a bill that would automatically let someone off-the-hook for killing a home invader, if they feel their life is in danger.
“When an individual is faced with a potential life threatening situation in their home or dwelling they shouldn’t have to weigh civil liability concerns with defending themselves or loved ones,” Senate sponsor Van Wanggaard (R-Racine) testified.
