Security measures at the state Capitol building continue to be dialed back. Capitol Police this morning removed metal detectors that had been in place at all five of the entrances to the building currently being used. The move comes as officials prepare to fully re-open all eight of the ground floor doors to the building next week.
The reduced security levels mark an end to months of restrictions for those visiting the Capitol. At times throughout the debate on the Governor’s collective bargaining bill and the state budget, the building has seen all doors barred or just a handful of entrances open.
The state argued the restricted access was needed to maintain control at the Capitol, after tens-of-thousands of protesters descended on the building earlier this year.
