US Senator Ron Johnson says in a time of a major deficit, it’s time for true fiscal discipline. “Our financial situation in this country is urgent, we don’t have years,” Johnson recently told reporters.
The Oshkosh Republican also issued a statement this week saying “Washington is broken.” The statement contained a backhanded compliment to President Obama for “finally” getting involved in bi-partisan economic talks.
The President responded to such criticisms saying he’s been meeting with lawmakers from both parties, for months.”I’ve meet with the leaders multiple times. At some point they need to do their job.”
At this morning’s press conference, Obama insisted tax hikes on the wealthy and oil companies are included in a package to raise the debt ceiling. Republicans do not want tax increases in the deal.
