A Madison woman will likely serve as the new representative for the 48th state Assembly District. Chris Taylor, public policy director for Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, defeated five other Democrats in Tuesday’s special primary in Wisconsin’s 48th Assembly District, representing much of Madison’s east side, the city of Monona, Village of McFarland and towns of Blooming Grove and Dunn. Taylor faces no opposition in the August 9 general election for the seat. Dane County Executive Joe Parisi resigned the Assembly in order to run for that office. Taylor defeated legislative staffers Vicky Selkowe, Bethany Ordaz and Dave de Felice, retired Madison Area Technical College instructor Fred Arnold, and Dane County employee Andy Heidt. Taylor received 3,383votes, 31.42 percent of the total of 10,958 votes cast.
