A traffic stop in Rockford yields more than a million dollars worth of cocaine. After pulling over the couple, the trooper called for a drug-sniffing dog after he got suspicious.
Stateline Area Narcotics Team Commander John Biffany says the Rockford K-9 unit “alerted” on the vehicle. A search revealed 10 kilos of cocaine hidden in diaper boxes, at a street value of $1.4 million. Amin Velazquez, 30, and Johana Velazquez, 27, both of Beloit, were arrested on a felony charge of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.
The two were driving north to Wisconsin when pulled over.
