Investigators are on the scene of a small plane crash in Dane County, after a 1950s single engine plane went down shortly after taking off this morning from an airfield in Stoughton. Dane County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Elise Schaffer says the 51-year-old male pilot was transported from the scene by helicopter to UW Hospital in Madison. Stoughton EMS transported the pilot’s 14-year-old son.
Schaffer says both victims are from southwestern Minnesota and had been attending last week’s EAA AirVenture event in Oshkosh. She says they were on their way home after spending the night with friends in Stoughton.
Schaffer says the investigation is ongoing and the cause of the plane crash is still unknown.
