All the campuses in the University of Wisconsin System will be banning concealed weapons. “It’s long been effectively state law, that people were not allowed to carry any kind of weapon, a firearm or anything else, on any part of the university’s property,” said UW System spokesman Dave Giroux. The new law allowing concealed carry throughout the state would override current state statute, and although there’s no requirement that they do so, Giroux said there’s consensus on the campuses. “Without exception as far as I know, every UW campus will be taking the steps necessary, in compliance with the new law, to ban firearms from university facilities,” said Giroux. That means no guns will be allowed, period. Campus buildings will all be posted to prohibit guns by the time the concealed carry law goes into effect November 1st.
