Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is the NFC’s Offensive Player of
the Week.
Rodgers completed 27 of 35 (77%) of his passes for 312 yards with 3 touchdowns and no interceptions for a 132.1 passer rating in the Packers’ 42-34 win over the New Orleans Saints last Thursday.
Rodgers first quarter passer rating of 158.3 in that game is the highest mark attainable. He completed 14 of 15 passes (93.3%) for 188 yards and three touchdowns.
Rodgers became just the second player in NFL history (Jack Kemp – 1964) to throw three touchdown passes in the first quarter of a season opener.
In his 7th season from California, this is Rodgers’ third career Player of the Week Award. He was honored twice last season.
Chicago’s Brian Urlacher is the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week. San Francisco’s Ted Ginn Jr. is the Special Teams Player of the Week.
