A state lawmaker, who had a beer dumped on his head by a protester, is speaking out about the incident. In statement release late Thursday night, State Representative Robin Vos (R-Rochester) says he supports free speech, but feels it’s a “shame when the expression turns into criminal behavior.”
Vos was at a downtown Madison bar Wednesday night with other Republicans, when a protester approached, yelled at him, and allegedly dumped a beer on his head. The suspect, 26-year-old Miles Kristan of Racine, turned himself into police Thursday and was cited for disorderly conduct.
Vos says legislators have regularly been harassed by certain protesters and the incident is a reminder of what they have to put up with each day in Madison. He hopes protesters realize actions such as this one only hurt their cause with the public.
