Governor Scott Walker says Wisconsin is not immune to the challenges faced nationally with a down economy and unemployment. But he looks at biofuels as an “area of potential growth” in Wisconsin and the Midwest.
The Governor opened up the Wisconsin Bioenergy Initiative Summit in Madison this morning. He emphasized three key concepts of the summit: continuing to build rural infrastructure, collaboration from start-to-finish on biofuels supply chain, and a robust agricultural and paper/pulp industry to support such projects.
Despite a global recession, he said food will continue to be a product in demand as evident by the record breaking World Dairy Expo in Madison.
“You wouldn’t know there is a recession out there by being at the expo. There was a lot of excitement, a lot of enthusiasm.”
Walker also plugged his administration’s efforts to increase exports including recent meetings with German and Taiwanese officials.
