An effort to remove a state Supreme Court justice. Madison Democrat, Representative Kelda Roys introduces a resolution to begin removal proceedings against state Supreme Court Justice Michael Gableman. “People deserve to have an impartial judiciary,” says Roys. “Unfortunately, Justice Gableman has, with his own actions, violated that public trust.”

Gableman accepted thousands of dollars in free legal services from a law firm, but then did not recusing himself from cases that firm argued before the court. Removal of a sitting justice requires a two-thirds vote in both chambers of the state legislature, a tall order, although Roys insists it ought not be a partisan issue.-
Roys is running for Congress. She and Madison Democrat Mark Pocan are vying to replace congresswoman Tammy Baldwin, who’s running for Congress.
