The deadline to file your taxes is just a week away and, while a majority of Wisconsinites have already filed, help is still available for many of the hold outs.
There are about 200 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance sites operating across Wisconsin through next Tuesday. Stephanie Marquis with the state Department of Revenue says those locations can help low-income and elderly taxpayers navigate the filing process.
Marquis says those working at the sites have been trained to be familiar with current tax laws and any changes. They can also help individuals e-file their returns and set up direct deposit for any refund they may be entitled to.
Marquis says finding a site nearby is just a phone call or click away. Residents can either call 211 or look on the IRS website for location information.
State and federal tax returns must be in by April 17th.
