The Milwaukee Brewers haven’t had a lot go right this season, when they head to the 8th inning with a lead, they’re a sure bet to
hang on and win.
Aramis Ramirez homered and drove in a pair of runs to back the strong pitching of right hander Shaun Marcum. Marcum held the Los Angeles Dodgers to 1 run on 6 hits in 7 innings.
Francisco Rodriguez allowed a run in the eighth, but closer John Axford kept the Dodgers off the board in the ninth, stranding the potential tying run at second. Axford notched his 8th save in 9 chances, with his fastball reaching 98 to 100 mph.
The Brewers improved to 2-2 on the road trip. They called up pitcher Michael Fiers to start game 2 of the series against the Dodgers tonight. Fiers takes the spot in the rotation previously occupied by Marco Estrada.
