Red flags over school suspensions in Madison

A watchdog group is raising concerns over the number of suspensions in the Madison School District. Don Severson of Active Citizens for Education, says information he obtained from the district shows more than 12,000 out-of-school suspensions since 2009 — that includes more than 250 kindergarteners.

The reasons include assaults on other students or teachers, inappropriate language, lack of adherence to school rules, and weapons issues. Severson says it shows a lack of accountability on the part of administrators, teachers, and parents.
