The state Department of Health Services is taking a simple approach with Wisconsin’s SeniorCare program: leave it alone.
Nearly 87,000 Wisconsin seniors currently use the popular prescription drug program. It still operates under a federal waiver though, which the state must re-apply for by the end of August. DHS Deputy Secretary Kitty Rhoades says the state hopes to continue the program exactly as it currently operates.
Rhoades says part of the renewal process is to hold a series of town hall meetings across the state later this month and in July, just to make sure they are running the best program possible. However, Rhoades says they expect to hear from most people that they don’t want any changes to SeniorCare.
Hearings are scheduled in Stevens Point, Waukesha, and Hudson. For those unable to attend a town hall, you can dial in to a teleconference line on hearing dates by calling 1-877-402-9757 and using the access code 5906120.
