After considering a move out-of-state, Kohl’s will keep its headquarters in Wisconsin. Governor Scott Walker says tax credits will be provided to the retail giant but it’s contingent on job growth. Walker says the state will give Kohl’s $62.5 million in tax credits, if it creates 3,000 new jobs and retains 4,500 jobs in Wisconsin over the next 12 years.
The governor says the jobs will likely be on a new corporate campus which will be built in Menominee Falls, the same city where the company is currently headquartered. However, he emphasizes this deal will set the stage for retaining and attracting business in all of Wisconsin.
Kohl’s will take over 100 vacant acres and acquire a small office building near that land.
