Northwest Wisconsin authorities are investigating the death of a three-year-old girl whose body was found in a canal late Wednesday afternoon. Burnett County Sheriff Dean Roland says the body of Renna Williams was found about 25 yards from her home in a boat launching area.
The girl had been missing for about 24 hours, after reportedly wandering off on Tuesday. The disappearance prompted a major search with the Danbury Fire Department’s dive team discovering the body.
Roland says his officers will continue to investigate the death until it can be determined that a crime was not committed. He says the canal will be drained, in the hopes of finding evidence that could explain what may have happened. Meanwhile, an autopsy is scheduled.
