An Allenton man is facing charges in Waupaca County for the death of his girlfriend last August. Police are recommending 24-year-old Kevin J. Lombard be charged with first degree reckless homicide, strangulation, and suffocation in the death of 18-year-old Amelia Schmitz.
The criminal complaint says Schmitz died of suffocation after Lombard allegedly put her in a headlock on the night of August 12th, 2011 during an argument at a New London motel. Investigators say Lombard called 911 after the incident, but only after calling his mother twice to ask her what he should do.
At the time of the death, Lombard was out on extended supervision from a prior conviction. He has since been returned to prison.
If convicted of killing Schmitz, Lombard faces up to 66 years in prison. He makes his initial appearance in Waupaca County Court September 27th.
