Three people have been jailed as the result of an investigation in Portage County, into a decades-old Social Security fraud case. All three – 67 year-old Delores Disher, 71 year-old Ronald Disher, and 65 year-old Charles Jost – are in custody in the Portage County jail. Bail for each has been set at $20,000. Prosecutors allege the trio received $175,000 dollars in Social Security payments which were supposed to be paid to Marie Jost, who is 101 years old, but who hasn’t been seen by neighbors in years.
The criminal complaint says Charles Jost told investigators that Marie, his mother, was on a trip with her other son, who also hasn’t been seen since the 1980’s. The state crime lab brought cadaver dogs to Charles Jost’s property in Amherst Junction Thursday. Sheriff’s officials say the dogs have hit on points of interest, but so far no human remains have been found.
