A balsam fir from central Wisconsin will be highlighted in the state Capitol rotunda this year. The 37-foot tree comes from Meyer’s Castle Tree Farm in Medford, which also provided the White House Christmas Tree back in 1998.
Fourth-graders from Medford and nearby Stetsonville will sing at the Capitol’s tree-lighting ceremony on November 30th. Last week, Governor Scott Walker invited youngsters throughout the state to submit homemade ornaments that correspond to the theme for the State Capitol tree, “In Wisconsin.” Walker says it’s symbolic of what it means to call the Badger State home. Decorations can still be submitted until Monday, the 19th.
