A former Scott Walker aide is going to jail. Kelly Rindfleisch was sentenced to six months in jail and placed on three years of probation for doing campaign work on the taxpayers’ dime. The 44-year-old Rindfleisch said she did what was best for the taxpayers – but Milwaukee County Circuit Judge David Hansher disagreed, saying she committed a serious offense. Hansher said Rindfleisch knew it was illegal to do campaign work for Republican lieutenant governor candidate Brett Davis in 2010, when she was supposed to be working as Walker’s deputy chief-of-staff in the Milwaukee County executive’s office.
At the sentencing Monday afternoon, Hansher said Rindfleisch will not have to report to jail until her appeals are exhausted. She was one of five former Milwaukee County aides and associates charged with crimes connected with Walker’s tenure as county executive. Walker himself has not been implicated.
