A Sawyer County man convicted for his role in the brutal murder of an elderly woman has had his sentenced reduced. Austin Davis was sentenced last year to 25 years in prison and 15 years on probation, after pleading guilty to a charge of party to second degree intentional homicide in the May 2009 stabbing death of 93-year-old Irena Roszak of Radisson.
A judge resentenced the 18-year-old Davis on Friday, after his attorney had requested a new pre-sentence investigation. The initial investigation done by the state was found to contain inaccuracies.
Davis will now serve 8 years in prison, and 7 years under extended supervision. Judge Steven Anderson also gave Davis credit for 3 years already served.
Davis’ accomplice in the Roszak slaying, 30 year-old Christopher Roalson, faces mandatory life in prison at his sentencing hearing in March. A jury found him guilty of first degree intentional homicide.
