Black Friday was more of a white Friday, for portions of Minnesota and northern Wisconsin which received up to a foot of snow. The National Weather Service said parts of Bayfield and Douglas counties have been hit with 12 inches of snow since late Thursday night. In Minnesota, the community of Finland had about 10 inches.
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said roads in the northern half of the state were snow-covered, with large areas of slippery stretches. Driving conditions were similar in central Minnesota, according the Minnesota DOT.
The Weather Service said Friday the worst of the storm was over, with dry conditions expected through the weekend. Flurries were seen in the Madison area Friday morning, but snow isn’t in the weekend forecast for southern Wisconsin.
