A Marshfield man is scheduled to make an initial court appearance this morning on charges that he used his cellphone to capture video of girls changing clothes in a hotel bathroom.
29-year-old Joseph Wright is accused of placing his cellphone in record mode and setting it on the bathroom floor October 7th at a Comfort Inn and Suites Hotel. The victim found the device while removing her swimsuit and immediately contacted authorities because she believed the recorder was running.
Wright was an employee of the hotel at the time. He tried to claim his phone was missing, but police concluded that wasn’t true since the video recording also captured the image of Wright placing the device in the girl’s bathroom.
Investigators say Wright admitted to recording the girl and with making other similar recordings on different dates over the previous three months. He is charged with Capturing an Image of Nudity and Invading Privacy Using a Surveillance Device. Other charges are being considered.
